About MUDEK

Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK) is a non-governmental organization operating in order to contribute to the improvement of the quality of engineering education in Turkey by carrying out accreditation, evaluation and information studies for various engineering education programs in our country.

MÜDEK's aim is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of engineering education by means of accreditation, evaluation and information services for engineering education programs in different disciplines. Thus, MÜDEK aims at improving the welfare of the society by training better educated and more qualified engineers who comprehend current and emerging technologies.

MÜDEK was established in 2002 as an independent platform under the name of Engineering Evaluation Board by the Engineering Deans Council (MDK), which is composed of the deans of faculties providing engineering education in Turkey and the TRNC, in order to organize and conduct a detailed program for the evaluation of engineering undergraduate programs of these faculties. MÜDEK became an association in 2007.

Except for the MÜDEK administrative staff, all individuals who take part in MÜDEK boards, committees, working groups and accreditation evaluation teams work on a voluntary basis, without any pay.

Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK);

- started the evaluation of engineering programs in 2003,

- became a member of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) on November 17, 2006,

- became a non-governmental organization named Engineering Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association on January 25, 2007 by continuing to use the abbreviated name MÜDEK and gained legal entity.

- was officially recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) on 16 November, 2007 as a national quality assurance agency dealing with national, sectoral and program specific competencies in the engineering programs of higher education institutions, and this five-year recognition was renewed for a period of five years on 1 February 2013,

- was authorized by ENAEE until 31 December, 2013 to give the EUR-ACE Label to the engineering education programs to be accredited as of January 21, 2009, and this authorization was renewed on October 16, 2013 until December 31, 2018;

- became a Provisional Status Member of the IEA (International Engineering Alliance) Washington Accord on June 25, 2010;

- Became a Full Member Signatory of IEA -Washington Accord on June 15, 2011.



Commissions of MUDEK

MUDEK Accreditation and Coordination Commission: The task of this commission is to direct the work of other commissions in line with MÜDEK expectations, to coordinate the preparation of the self-evaluation report, to organize the MÜDEK Department visit, and to coordinate the preparation of the materials to be submitted to the Evaluation Team. Education Commission: The task of this commission is to organize the curriculum of the undergraduate program of the department in line with MÜDEK criteria, to examine the relevant issues on the agenda of the Academic Department Board in terms of curriculum compatibility and to express opinions. Measurement and Evaluation Commission: The task of this commission is to develop and implement examination, survey and similar methods within the scope of measurement, evaluation and self-assessment regarding the department activities, to examine the relevant issues on the agenda of the Academic Department Board in terms of compliance with measurement and evaluation techniques, and to prepare an evaluation report at the end of the year in which the success of reaching the program objectives and outputs is evaluated. Stakeholder Communication Commission: The duties of this commission are to organize meetings with stakeholders, to get in touch with our graduates, to organize Career Days and other seminars, to organize various social events, to document their activities for presentation to the MÜDEK Evaluation Team, and to prepare an evaluation report at the end of the year that includes the views of the stakeholders regarding the program's objectives and outputs, The members of the commission are listed below:

Student Representative of the Department

Infrastructure Commission: The task of this commission is to keep the infrastructure inventory of the department, to ensure that the infrastructure of the program is developed in accordance with MÜDEK criteria, to evaluate the relevant issues on the agenda of the Academic Department Board in terms of infrastructure suitability or requirement, and to express opinions. Student Commission: The duties of this commission are to work on improving counseling services, and to organize the necessary studies so that students can receive active counseling services from the first to the last year. The Student Commission organizes meetings where students' in-class and extra-curricular problems are discussed. In addition, when necessary, it expresses opinions on the issues related to the students in the Academic Committee of the Department. The members of the commission are listed below:

Web Management Commission: The priority duties of the commission are to keep the Mechanical Engineering web page up-to-date, to announce the decisions taken by the Academic Board of the Department on the website of the department, to announce the results of the survey, meetings, seminars, symposiums or social responsibility projects on the website of the department.

Machine Design and Applications and Graduation Thesis Commission: This commission is responsible for the organization of Mechanical Engineering Department students' Machine Design and Application and Graduation Thesis. The duties of this commission are to announce the topics of Machine Design and Applications and Graduation Thesis, to ensure the coordination between the students and the advisors, to announce and organize the Jury for the Graduation Thesis exams.

Adaptation Commission: The Adaptation Commission arranges the class adjustment and course exemptions of the students who achieve interinstitutional lateral transfer or lateral transfer within the unit to Erciyes University, Faculty of Engineering Department of Mechanical Engineering, or the students who, after registration, want to substitute the courses they have passed at any higher education institution they have attended before with their equivalents. The members of the commission are listed below:

Graduation Commission: The duties of the commission are to examine the status of students who have successfully completed the education period and qualified for graduation and to make decisions on graduation, to examine the transcripts of the students who have the right to graduate and to decide on the graduation of the students who have successfully completed the education plan. Internship Commission: The internship commission examines the two-semester internship that the students of the Mechanical Engineering Department should do in line with the instructions on the General Internship Principles of the Engineering Faculty. It also checks the suitability of places where students can do internship. It expresses opinions to the Academic Board of the Department on issues related to student internships.
